
Looks like diamond is no longer the hardest substance in the world. That distinction now goes to the material of lonsdaleite, which scientists have discovered is 58% harder. Diamonds are relatively easy to come by--just get someone to propose to you--but lonsdaleite's a little trickier to acquire.
