LightPeak is a technology being built by Intel that allows data to be transmitted at speeds up to 10GB/s over fibre optic connections.A demo was recently run that showed a laptop sending a couple of HD streams over a LightPeak connection to a nearby HDTV.

Panasonic has announced that it has updated a couple of its ruggedized Toughbook computers. The updates include new processors, memory and more mobile technology. Among the machines getting updates are the Toughbook CF-52 semi-rugged notebook and the Toughbook CF-T8 tablet-alternative notebook.

Some weird leaks over in Franceland point to the 16GB iPad costing 499 Euro (approximately $655, depending on how low the Euro can dip). These listings appeared on Fnac’s RSS feed which means they may have been entered inadvertently and/or incorrectly.

Samsung is readying a new tablet that would deliberately chase after the iPad, a Korean news outlet claimed Tuesday. Potentially called the S-Pad, it would be meant to compete more against iPhone OS devices than traditional computers and would use the technologies developed for the Samsung Wave.
