ASUS in its Computex launches has brought out a third slate that doesn't compete directly either with the iPad or e-readers. The Eee Tablet can read text but is meant as a drawing and note-taking companion to a computer and centers on its very precise display.

Apple today announced that iPad sales have topped two million in less than 60 days since its launch on April 3. Apple began shipping iPad in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK this past weekend.

A little birdie told me that the World Cup begins in just a few weeks, on June 11, 2010, in South Africa. Four years prior saw Italy lift the trophy in Germany (above), beating France on penalties. Zinedine Zidane also headbutted Marco Materazzi that day—an immense event in Internet history.

Less than a month ago, Apple [AAPL] announced that over 1 million Apple iPad units had been sold. Now on May 31 the company now announces that 2 Million iPads have been sold since launch on April 3.It took less than 60 days to sell 2 million iPads which is quite an impressive achievement.

Mainland China's cloning of the iPad has become more blatant this weekend with the discovery of a seeming clone, the iPed. On sale in Shenzhen, near Foxconn's main factory, the tablet much more closely resembles Apple's work on the outside with a similar home button.
