Well, sure enough, it turns out that something did come from the Amazon Kindle selling out, with no sign of any restocking happening. Because Amazon has just pulled the curtain off their brand new Kindle, and sure enough, it’s actually worth the wait.

Amazon in a rare evening launch revealed its third-generation Kindle reader. The new hardware is 21 percent smaller and 15 percent lighter than the model it replaces but is better in nearly every way.

SanDisk has decided to launch the Cruzer Blade USB Flash drive in the United States and Canada. Known as the company’s smallest USB flash drive, the Cruzer Blade is about the size of a standard size paper clip and weighs approximately the same as a penny.

Jeff Bezos has survived the iPad. Predictions that Apple’s bright tablet computer would be a Kindle-killer haven’t quite come to pass: Amazon CEO Bezos says that the growth rate in sales of his e-reading device have tripled since June, when he dropped the Kindle price to $189.

I had every intention of posting again yesterday, and also earlier today. However, yesterday afternoon my cousins from Baltimore stopped by for a visit, then my niece stopped by so the kids could go swimming, then I went out and spent a fair amount of time with a new friend.

Remember Big Dog? Well there is a new walking robot king in town. Cornell’s Ranger Robot has just broken the record for distance for a bipedal robot. It took over 65 thousand steps before the battery died! Thanks for the tip Paul.

The Department of Justice today said a third executive from Chi Mei has plead guilty to antitrust charges of price fixing for LCDs. Wen-Hung Huang admitted to conspiring with other companies to keep screen prices artificially high between 2001 and 2006.

RIM's plans for a BlackBerry tablet were corroborated today as the company is now known to have registered BlackPad.com. A WHOIS check on the domain showed that it was bought just a few days ago on behalf of RIM by CSC, a company specializing in corporate branding.

Not to alarm you, but we only have 172 years to live, so better ding 80 (soon 85) while you still can. Scientists have spotted an asteroid that, if all goes well (er, bad), will smash right into Planet Earth in the year 2182.
