Canon validated a flurry of rumors surrounding an August 26 event today by sending out invitations for media events the same day. Invites in Belgium and elsewhere asked the media to attend a "Take Stories Press Event."

AT&T could see as much as a third of its iPhone subscriber base leave for Verizon when a CDMA iPhone is ready, market researchers at Morpace found on Friday. Of those in a study who already have an iPhone, 34 percent plan to get a new model only when Verizon is carrying Apple's device.
