Huawei are another company going in for Android in a big way, already behind several of the operator-branded budget smartphones on the market and hoping to follow up that success with the new Ideos U8150, a Froyo 2.2 smartphone with what’s tipped to be a roughly $150 unsubsidized price tag.

Sprint today said that its launch of the Samsung Epic 4G was "one of the best" first-day releases in its history. The carrier wouldn't provide figures but hinted it was prepared for the possibility of sellouts. The record came in spite of a higher $250 contract price....

This past week, Apple had a host of new patents officially approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office. From streamlining the way images are rendered to preventing the accidental opening of applications, a large chunk of the patents seem to relate to the ways that a user interacts with a device.

Over at IFA the Samsung I5510 smartphone was spotted. The I5510 is a QWERTY slider phone that was seen to be running Android 2.2 at the Vodafone booth. Price wise, the Samsung I5510 will cost 200 Euros.

Apple [AAPL] has uploaded a new page to it's website that provides the official details of iOS 4.2 for iPad. The iOS 4.2 release date is November this year which will bring everything to iPad which includes multi-tasking, folders as well as the ability to print among a number of other enhancements.
