RIM shadows Apple, Google with BlackBerry Ad Service

RIM kicked off BlackBerry DevCon today with plans for its own mobile ad service in the vein of Apple's iAd or Google's AdMob. BlackBerry Advertising Service will give app writers access to multiple ad networks to subsidize free or cheap apps.

I recently went to fabulous Salt Lake City to the Raytheon Sarcos facility to see the real life version of the Iron Man suit, the XOS 2. And while this suit isn’t powered by some futuristic kind of reactor embedded within a person’s chest, it’s still very impressive.

RIM today unveiled the PlayBook, its first shot at the tablet space. The PlayBook has a seven-inch display and is just 9.7mm thick. It's designed as a high-powered browsing device with both a WebKit browser as well as Flash 10.1 and AIR support.

RIM has announced the BlackBerry Tablet. Its real name is the PlayBook and all the details have been announced along with pictures of the device.Technical spec wise, the PlayBook will run a Cortex A9 running at 1GHz. The CPU is dual-core. It will have 1GB of RAM.

The BlackPad is dead. Long live the PlayBook. As expected, Research in Motion today unveiled a new seven inch tablet built around its BlackBerry OS. The word "BlackPad" was nowhere to be seen at RIM's annual developer event, however. Nope, the company's co-CEO Mike Lazaridis unveiled the PlayBook.

AMD's Radeon HD 6700 series has had virtually all of its details leak today through a forum post at Chinese site Chiphell. The new series, now pitched as mid-range, is due to have "twice the horsepower" of the 5700 series it replaces.
