In the comments section of a recent entry on the official US PlayStation blog, Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein confirmed that a Netflix app is coming to US owners of the PlayStation 3 console. This will happen sometime this month, though a specific date isn't yet available, Rubenstein said.

Acer pioneer Stan Shih today at a Taiwan government forum said that he doesn't expect tablets to replace any kind of notebook. The devices are designed to fulfill a "specific niche" where notebooks cover many roles, he explained.

Good news for those wanting to purchase an iPhone 4...in the US anyway. Shipping estimates have improved from three weeks to between five and seven business days, according to Apple's US online retail store. Improved shipping estimates usually indicate that Apple is catching up with consumer demand.

Netflix has updated its iPhone app, and the new version of the app now supports video out for the iPhone and iPod Touch, although only the iPhone 4 and fourth generation iPod Touch are able to use the video out.

A senior VP at HP (Eric Cador) said over in Barcelona at a recent conference... "you will see us coming early next year with new phones,".He didn't particularly specify what phones would be arriving, as in what OS, but I think it's safe to think that he is referring to webOS.

Wireless provider Cricket on Wednesday said it will soon launch the Huawei Ascend Android-powered handset. Calling it the first low-cost Android smartphone in the US, Cricket says the phone sports a 3.5-inch, 640x240 touchscreen, Wi-Fi, a 3.2-megapixel camera and MP3 playback capability.

HTC today said it had set a record for the company after nearly doubling its profit in the summer. The Taiwan-area smartphone designer earned the equivalent of $360 million in net profit, or 95 percent more than it did a year ago.
