There's no shortage of location-based search apps. One of my favorites is Around Me, but there are plenty of others. Smith Micro has come up with its own search app that has some nice additions, and misses a few things too.

What happened to flight sims? I remember walking down the aisles of whatever store in the mall, back in the day, and seeing sim after sim. But no more! Kids are too interested in shooting the Opposing Force these days, I suppose. They’re missing out!

Energizer has just began shipping its AP1201 case for the iPhone 4, which doubles as a lithium polymer battery pack. It promises to nearly double the life of the Apple handset, and shows the external battery's status through LED lights on the back of the case.

Some pictures purporting to show the next-generation iPad have surfaced, showing what appears to be a second dock connector port. The second port isn’t entirely without precedent — some patents uncovered a few weeks ago showed one, though that’s not much to go on.

An electronics repair company, Mission:Repair, claims to have to obtained evidence that a next-generation iPad will use not one but two dock connectors. Photos show an alleged back for the tablet, with a second 30-pin port located along one of the long edges.

WINtA is probably the best brand new game that I've seen so far at GDC Online 2010 (this week in Austin, Texas). It's a title published by a group called OneBigGame, which is a nonprofit video game publisher.
