Patrick Hyland is working on creating a "charger-free cell phone future." This means that, in addition to lowering electricity consumption, we won't have to mess with annoying chargers anymore and can stop throwing them away (because we won't have them in the first place).

Verizon appears to be planning an "interactive launch" for BlackBerry OS 6. A marketing image, posted on the Boy Genius Report, suggests the event is scheduled for October 14, although the actual OS updates are not expected to arrive on BlackBerry handsets until a later date....

T-Mobile has issued a statement that explains rather than defends its position to include a fail-safe system that prevents rooting the G2. The feature will remove any non-standard roots loaded into the system folder by users whenever the handset is rebooted.

Qualcomm's summer results will reflect a major uptick in orders for a CDMA iPhone, Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair said in a note today. He saw "meaningful order strength" towards the end of the calendar quarter that was attributed directly to Apple orders for chipsets.

See this? It's a leaked photo of the next generation iPad's back casing. Or so we're told. The key difference on this one is the presence of two dock connectors, so you can charge the thing up while it's in landscape or portrait mode. Pretty cool, no?
