Patrick Hyland is working on creating a "charger-free cell phone future." This means that, in addition to lowering electricity consumption, we won't have to mess with annoying chargers anymore and can stop throwing them away (because we won't have them in the first place).

Verizon appears to be planning an "interactive launch" for BlackBerry OS 6. A marketing image, posted on the Boy Genius Report, suggests the event is scheduled for October 14, although the actual OS updates are not expected to arrive on BlackBerry handsets until a later date....

Qualcomm's summer results will reflect a major uptick in orders for a CDMA iPhone, Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair said in a note today. He saw "meaningful order strength" towards the end of the calendar quarter that was attributed directly to Apple orders for chipsets.
