The iPad is coming to Verizon Wireless, but not in the way you might first expect.  The carrier has announced that, as of Thursday, October 28, it will be offering three iPad WiFi bundles that package the non-3G version of the iOS slate with a contract-free Verizon MiFi 2200 mobile 3G hostpot.

Asteroid Whizzes By Earth

Mankind is safe. For now. Earlier this week, an asteroid whizzed by our little blue planet--dangerously close, at least in astronomical terms. The rock flew above a section of Southeast Asia by Singapore. At around 6:51 AM ET, it was at its closest to the planet--around 28,000 miles away.

It has now been confirmed by Sony that the new Netflix update will be released and live on Monday 18th October. The new update will allow users to stream movies and television programs without having to insert a disk in their PS3 console first.

AT&T chose not to let Verizon's iPad deal go unanswered today and said it would carry the iPad in its own stores on October 28. The original iPad supporter will stock only the existing 3G iPads rather than the Wi-Fi plus MiFi combos at the rival carrier.

Sony has pushed out a new firmware update for its NEX-3 and NEX-5 interchangeable lens cameras, v.03, which among other things adds autofocus support for the company’s A-mount lenses.  That allows NEX owners to use 14 different A-mount models, though they’ll also need the LA-EA1 adapter.
