How did I miss this? Giganews, the biggest Usenet provider out there by some margin, now has 800 days of binary retention. A year and a half ago I wrote a similar story, but the number was 365 days of retention. Man, I remember the days when I had two days of retention!

Nokia's just-shipping N8 flagship may have had no real effect on sales, an analyst note from Pacific Crest's James Faucette said today. An investigation of interest in Western Europe has shown "little to no pent-up demand."

Austrian residents are being offered a free Xbox 360 gaming console with every purchase of a new Windows Phone 7 device, according a print ad from the country. Buyers have to buy the handset through Austrian carrier A1, and on the platform's European launch day, October 21.

T-Mobile USA on Tuesday surprised everyone by announcing a new CEO will join its ranks much earlier than expected. Previously, the company was expected to replace current CEO Robert Dotson in 2011, but Philipp Humm has already become the new president and CEO.

Newsweek has published their list of the most environmentally-friendly companies, and Apple is ranked number 65 out of 500. While it didn't make the top 10 (Dell is number one), Apple improved significantly from last year when it placed 133rd.

Microsoft's Major Nelson sent word that the company would push out a redesigned Xbox.com tomorrow both in the run-up to Kinect and to link it into Windows Phone 7. The refresh will let users play web games not just with other Xbox Live friends but also with Windows Phone 7 users.
