At today’s “Back to the Mac” event, Steve Jobs announced the new version of OS X, 10.7, also known as Lion. The philosophy is, as we expected, iOS meets OS X. The App Store is coming to the Mac, along with several upgrades to the core functionality of the system.

Apple took just a few quick minutes during its Back To The Mac event today to announce Facetime on OS X. The release seems only natural as most Macs have had an integrated web camera for years and this type of vertical integration is Apple’s claim to fame.

Apple has updated the MacBook air with a new model which is just 0.68 inches thick at its thickest point and weighs in at just 2.9 pounds. The MacBook Air features a 13.3 inch LED backlit display with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels.

Apple announced two new flavors of the MacBook Air today, starting at $999 for a 64GB Air that has no hard drive or optical drive. The $999 MacBook Air has an 11.6-inch screen while a 13.3-inch Air, starting at $1299, will start at 128GB flash storage.

The source code on the Canada section of the official Palm Pre 2 site reveals that the new device will be available at Canadian wireless provider Rogers, MobileSyrup reported on Wednesday. Exactly when it arrives hasn't been revealed, but HP did say it will be in the coming months.
