Google is reportedly set to launch a Google-branded smartbook this month running its new Chrome OS. The ARM-based smartbook is purported to be built by Inventec, a Taiwanese-based electronics manufacturer. It is expected to have 60,000-70,000 units ready for the initial launch run.

You can’t have any aspirations to be cooler than a movie star if you don’t have a wall of TVs, but panel-gaps as wide as cheap grouting tend to ruin the effect.  LG Display is offering what the company reckons are the smallest bezels around a 37-inch LCD panel: just 1.5mm on the side.

Google's Android had a good third quarter. A really, really good third quarter. According to numbers from research firm Canalys, handsets running Google's open OS comprised 44 percent of smartphones shipped in the US that quarter.
