Yesterday Facebook launched, among other things, a new platform called “Deals.”   The goal of this platform and the API’s that come along are simply to offer businesses both local and national a way to offer consumers deals as they check into locations near retail outlets.

While the Allies of World War II certainly had the moral high ground over the Axis, it's almost embarassing to see how far the former was behind the latter in terms of industrial design. A good case in point is the object that today is known as the Jerrycan. ("Jerry" being Allied slang for "German."

Sharp unveils Android phones with glasses-free 3D

Sharp has introduced two Android phones, the Galapagos 003SH and 005SH, featuring glasses-free 3D displays. Both devices, which will be headed to Softbank in Japan, offer Android 2.2 and 3.8-inch displays with 800x480 resolution.

Just five hours into availability, high demand on Skyfire servers forced them to pull the Skyfire iOS app from the App Store. The company says its working to increase server capacity and will have a new group of apps available "soon."

Today Hulu’s Plus subscription service is available to anyone in the US willing to pony up ten dollars per month, no invitation required. Next week, Sony’s Playstation 3 will be the first dedicated video gaming console offering the service to all its users.

Storage maker LaCie has released a new Mac USB 3.0 driver. As no Mac ships with a USB 3.0-ready port by default, the driver can only support accessories on a Mac Pro equipped a LaCie PCI Express adapter, or a MacBook Pro with the company's ExpressCard/34 adapter.

Samsung today said it expected one million Galaxy Tab sales over all of 2010. The firm’s mobile division leader JK Shin said early results for the tablet were “quite good” and that Samsung was “confident” it would pass the million-unit figure before the end of the year.
