I’ve heard the movie Skyline compared to Cloverfield, as the same movie but with better camerawork. It’s true that Skyline takes concepts from obvious influences, Cloverfield being one, but in many ways it also comes across as fresh and new.

The Boxee Box is tiny. Most of the Internet knows that. But when compared directly to standard A/V devices, its tiny stature really sinks in. (ha) It has about the same footprint as a new Roku or Apple TV, but the sinking box design makes the actual space it takes up a bit larger.

Apple has battled a thriving gray market in China over the last few years, and hopes that getting new products into customers' hands more quickly will help to address the problem. You'll remember that the iPhone didn't hit the Chinese market until 2009, a full two years after the U.S. launch.

We heard earlier today that Verizon was excited to carry Microsoft’s Widows Phone 7 devices, as soon as Microsoft got them ready for the CDMA-based network. And now, thanks to a Verizon pamphlet, it looks like that day may be coming sooner than we imagined. And HTC seems to be leading the way.

The PSJailbreak team kicked off the week by announcing that its hack now supports PS3 firmware 3.42, 3.50 and reportedly any future firmware versions. The USB mod allows users to unlock their PS3 to allow unapproved software, and has landed the company in legal trouble from Sony itself.

Apple's home page today teased a major iTunes update. The note occupying the entire front page asks users to visit at 10AM Eastern for an "exciting announcement from iTunes" without giving more details. "Tomorrow is just another day," it reads, "That you'll never forget."...

Plasma TVs aren’t dead, yo. LCDs might be the popular kid at Best Buy, but according to a report by Quixel Research, sales of plasma TVs were up 28% from Q2 2010 to Q3 2010 and up 15% over 2009 numbers. That’s huge.
