Completely without meaning to, we’ve participated in this one. A loaf of really good cheese-herb bread just came out of the oven and I sat down to post while we’re waiting for it to cool enough to eat. Today it turned nasty and cold here, so it seemed like the thing to do.

Not one thing. Nada. I haven’t even actually gotten dressed yet today, although I did trade my nightgown for some sweats and slippers. In a few minutes I’m going to go out with some friends, but other than that I have had the most wonderful day off.

Bell today had the distinction of being the first carrier in North America to start up a live 42Mbps network using HSPA+ 3G. The Canadian carrier is relying on dual cell sites to get theoretical speeds twice as quick as usual HSPA+ and as much as 11Mbps for uploads.

Qualcomm at an analyst meeting late Wednesday previewed the generation of Snapdragon chips beyond the dual-core models shipping soon. The MSM8960 will be built on a much smaller 28 nanometer process and, along with a new architecture, should be at once much more powerful and more efficient.
