A Texas man claims his brand new Motorola Droid 2 exploded as he was having a phone conversation, leaving him with four stitches, the WFAA reported on Thursday. Aron Embry said his Droid 2's screen "burst outward," leaving the phone itself intact but ruining the screen.

Apple has quietly widened the scope of its ongoing countersuits against Motorola to include 12 more patents. The iPhone maker on Wednesday amended a Wisconsin lawsuit to accuse Motorola of infringing on 12 extra patents beyond the 12 that were already in play, most of which target Android.
