The Chevy Volt’s European cousin, the Opel Ampera, gets kind of revealed

 You have to use your imagination a bit, but that is what the Opel Ampera is going to look like. Just fill in the sheet metal mentally and you have it. The plug-in hybrid is official going to debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show, but these renderings were found on the European Registry.

Erector was on hand at this year's Toy Fair, showing off its iPod-friendly robots, including the Spykee Vox (shown above), a voice-activated bot that plays music from your iPod and dances along to your commands (we saw him last year, too).

Urwerk makes some crazy watches, that’s for sure. Their latest kind of speaks to me though, so I can’t make too much fun of it. Combining a very unique design with some clever alloys, you end up with a watch that looks like nothing else currently on the market.

Canon adds two tilt-shift lenses to their stable

Canon announced two new tilt-shift lenses yesterday, a 24mm and and 17mm. Tilt-shift lenses are typically used for landscape or architectural photography, and have very specialized uses. Both lenses are expected to be released in May, with the 24mm costing $2199, and the 17mm going for $2499.

Rumor has it that Leica is considering selling off its low-end digicam business to Panasonic. Panasonic already OEMs Leica’s point-and-shoot line so it makes a lot of sense but of course Leica is denying it.

Canon announced today that they are releasing a waterproof case for their popular “VIXIA” line of camcorders, enabling the camera to go as deep as 130 feet and take HD video. The case is scheduled to be available starting in May, for $599.

Not a lot of information about this tiny little tablet but it has WiMAX, WiFi, and a keyboard. It also has a 3-megapixel camera and runs Windows Mobile 6.1. Look for it here in the U.S. never.

Peter Lewis created Aragom, an iPhone space war game inspired by the old Star Trek games that were available on the TRS-80 and other early home computers. It's not a bad idea for an iPhone game, all told, but it needs a coat of paint. Peter is a good programmer, he noted, but not much of an artist.

The term “hand-made” is probably one of the last things you would think of when it comes to USB sticks. But not so in Japan, where a craftswoman apparantly spends a whole working day to manufacture one stick that’s shaped like a little cat.

I’m glad I didn’t buy a DSi when I was in Japan the other week. Today, Nintendo announced that the updated portable gaming system would be making its way Stateside on April 5th. But that’s not all. There’s a new color, too! At launch, there will be a black and blue DSi for $170. Wait.
