Among all the hoopla of the desktop Mac refreshes this morning, we missed the minuscule MacBook Pro update. The higher-end 15-inch model, you know, the $2500 one, got a processor bump from 2.53GHz to 2.66GHz. And a 256GB SSD for a whopping $750. Not good enough for you, huh?

I did a quick video of Amazon Video on Demand on the Roku box and, as you can see, I really need to lose some weight. Otherwise, it’s a great service that really makes this tiny little box a real contender for a spot next to your TiVo and cable box in the TV shelf.

Out of Las Vegas come a clutch of new lenses from Sigma. The best thing about Sigma lenses is that they can be bought to fit most of the major camera brands, unlike offerings from the camera makers themselves which are a lot less promiscuous.

ASUS seems to be counting on CeBIT to make a mark, a reason they’re using the platform to showcase novelties carried from the year’s-kicker CES. Introduced first is the Asus-Lamborghini VX5 laptop, the only laptop in the world with a 1TB solid state drive.

Apple have announced an updated iMac desktop PC, with Intel Core 2 Duo processors up to 3.06GHz, either 20-inch or 24-inch LCD displays, and up to 8GB of RAM.  The new iMac can be fitted with up to 1TB of storage, and has integrated AirPort Extreme WiFi n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and Mini DisplayPort.

Apple have announced a new version of the Mac mini, and as expected it includes refreshed NVIDIA graphics and a faster Intel Core 2 Duo processor.  Two basic mini models are available, both with an 8x SuperDrive, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics and 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; a 2.26Ghz CPU is an option.

Apple has introduced a new line of Mac Pros. Inside the new Mac Pro, Apple uses Intel’s latest Nahelem Xeon Processors. The new Mac Pro starts at $2,499 for a single CPU (Quad Core) configuration with Xeon 3500, 3GB of DDR3 RAM.

As well as their new Mac range, Apple have also updated their Time Capsule backup device.  The new Apple Time Capsule 1TB has more storage than before, but also supports simultaneous dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi n.

  Two new Mac Pros today with some pretty serious power configurations and very-serious price tags. There’s a quad-core version that starts at $2499 and an eight-core version that starts at $3299.

The new 1TB or 500GB Time Capsule runs dual Wi-Fi, streaming at 802.11n and 802.11g speeds. The Capsule will pick the right band automatically, allowing for more efficient back-ups - a huge issue when transferring large files.

Bird Electron comes back with a new set of speaker, which is build around Japanese Takotsubo, or Octopus Trap, used by fishermen in order to catch Octopus. It has a 50mm diameter speaker and works on a bandwidth of 50Hz to 4kHz at 83dB. No info on pricing or availability so far.
