Just around 6 months after the launch of the LG Cookie (KP500) , LG has announced details of a followup. Because the name “Cookie II” just made too much sense, LG has instead opted to name this second handset “Cooky”, which is not a word.

We all enjoyed a quiet, slightly ironic laugh at Doug’s reminder of robot insurance, but there may come a day soon when we’ll need it. Scientists at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab have been hard at work creating robot gardeners.

Have you guys used Plex lately? We’ve written about the application, which is a Mac-optimized fork of XBMC, in the past, but didn’t mention its latest update. It’s now known as Plex Media Server, and it’s really a great way to watch movies on your Mac.

The slimline version of the Acer Aspire One netbook has cleared the FCC, suggesting that it’s scheduled for a US release.  Hardware specifications are unclear from the filing, but according to earlier reports include Intel’s 1.6Ghz Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive.

A Japanese company called KFE has developed a charger for cell phones that gets its energy from a zinc-air battery. Users can recharge their phones about 20 times and KFE says compared to dry-cell battery based charger, their $35 device (Japan-only) is more economical.

As usual, the most extreme form of automotive styling has been reserved for a car nobody needs. Spain's 12-cylinder biturbo Tramontana R-Edition is styled to look like an airplane, and at 500 large, you've got as much chance of owning one as the other. But yes, it's interesting to look at.
