Joel Scilley is a thinking man's carpenter, having grabbed an MA from Carnegie Mellon and a PhD in media studies from Pitt before heading back to the Bay Area to make handcrafted turntables. Like you do. Scilley makes some out of his "Audiowood" players out of burlwood that has a more organic feel.

Canon’s Spanking New Mobile Projectors

Canon has rolled out two new mobile projectors for the Japanese market. The Canon LV7375 and the Canon LV8300 come with a carrying handle. The LV7375 provides 3,500 lumens and is equipped with a 7Watts mono speaker and a 230W lamp.

KLM and Air France announced yesterday that they’ve begun rolling out an electronic boarding pass service throughout Europe. A six-month beta test occurred on the Paris-Amsterdam-Paris route and it was launched a month ago on the ‘La Navette’ flights.

Design firm Kicker Studio did this case study for 3D sensor manufacturer Canesta, experimenting with ways to control home entertainment systems with motion-sensing cameras and gestures. Seems a perfectly reasonable way to do it, although I would prefer a much more subtle amount of motion.
