A source at RIM described as highly reliable has told CIO that a 3G version of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is coming as early as late March or early April. The source goes on to say an LTE PlayBook is due soon after the 3G version of the PlayBook.

FCC approves Comcast-NBC deal, must share online video

The FCC on Tuesday approved (PDF) the long delayed Comcast-NBC merger but with conditions. It will require that the new company provide its video to Internet and traditional sources on "non-discriminatory" terms if that content is already available to its own online users and to others.

Leica's X1 camera, first seen in a leak back in 2009, has just been refreshed with a special edition model. The camera maker teamed up with German luxury carmaker BMW to endow the special camera with a different color on the body and a BMW stamp on the top.

This just in: Apple's financials for the first fiscal quarter ending December 31, 2010 are in, and Apple easily beat the Street. Revenue for the first quarter rose to $26.7 billion, with earnings per share at $6.43. Apple's gross margin, which is always quite high, was at 38.5%.

Apple achieved a milestone in its quarterly results on Tuesday as it confirmed that it had outperformed RIM in two consecutive quarters for the first time in history. It shipped 16.24 million iPhones in the fall, topping the 14.2 million BlackBerry phones from roughly the same period.
