Umid M1 finally reaching western shores

The fabled black UMID hits Dynamism.com next week. The $600 ultraportable has a 1.3GHZ Intel Atom CPU, 4 hours of battery life and a great keyboard for its tiny size, but lacks 3G and has some connectivity irritations, like micro-USB ports and no headphone jack.

I wouldn’t consider myself an avid photography nut. I upgraded years ago to a DSLR, but mostly I end up using it as a point-and-shoot on auto mode. I really only wanted it for the fast shutter speed so I could take pictures at sporting events.

The Canon EOS 7D might still be a rumor, but the company has released a whole slew of new cameras without a DSLR in sight. There are a whooping six new cameras, in four product lines. While the digital ELPHs are great, us camera geeks are mostly intersted in the new G11 and S90.

I haven’t bit the bullet and bought myself an Amazon Kindle yet, but I have a serious jones for the gadget. Amazon is certainly selling a lot of the Kindle DX devices and more than one user has found that to keep the reader pristine requires some sort of protection for the device.
