It is unfair to accuse RED of pushing vaporware, as its technology is real and it rules. But its relentless teasing of product concepts hit the hype ceiling long ago, and maintaining the interest of those already convinced is the order of the day.

HP inadvertently confirmed its own notebook plans this morning by posting specs of its own in a technical brief. The Pavilion dv8 (not yet pictured) will be its first 18.4-inch notebook and its second system after the Envy 15 to use a mobile Core i7 processor.

UK mobile phone operator Orange and Apple have signed a deal to sell the iPhone in the UK. Orange will start selling the iPhone 3G and 3GS in the UK before Christmas this year. For your info, Orange is the largest 3G network in the UK.

Microsoft has confirmed that it’s unlikely existing games will be compatible with their upcoming Project Natal motion-controller for the Xbox 360, suggesting that developers would in effect need to push out fully reworked versions of titles rather than merely issue a compatibility patch.

I have enjoyed several 3D movies in theaters this summer with my kids. 3D films have come a long way in the last few years from films that didn’t look particularly 3D to very realistic and enjoyable films today. I am especially looking forward to getting 3D films and TV in the home.

Drivers in New Zealand are looking at facing legal fines for using their mobile phone while driving for anything other than starting or ending a phone call. That means that listening to music on the phone or using it, as a navigation device would be illegal in the country.

A few weeks ago we mentioned the Canon EOS 7D was launching soon. A video has arrived on the net showing exactly what sort of 1080p quality you can expect from this camera. The video’s were captured by Dan Chung and filmed in low light using a 1600 to 6400 ISO setting.
