Hands on with the Pixi Plus and Pre Plus

We just did some live video from the Palm lounge where we saw the Pixi and Pre Plus, two improvements to the current WebOS line-up. Notable points? The 3D gaming was quite impressive and the design has been considerably improved in this iteration.

Some think that people who want FM radio on their iPhone or iPod are crazy, that thousands of songs and unlimited Internet radio is a far better trade-off. That may be true, but there are times when I want to hear a local station and nothing else. If you agree, you'll appreciate the new Griffin iFM.

The best kept secret in VoIP with overseas relatives and friends is Ooma. For about $200 you can set your overseas loved ones up with some hot VoIP action, giving them a local telephone number they can use to call you and you can use to call them. If you travel then its great.

If you think that Acer Aspire AS7740 has all specs you need but a 17.3 inch laptop is too big for you, don’t worry. Acer has a smaller version of the laptop called Acer Aspire AS5470 which packs a 15. inch display but all other specs similar to AS7740.

NVIDIA have announced their next-gen Tegra platform, the unsurprisingly titled NVIDIA Tegra 2, and as expected the 40nm chip packs Full HD 1080p support and Flash 10.1 acceleration along with compatibility with Windows CE, Windows Mobile and Android.

Engadget managed to get some hands-on time with the Skiff e-reader that we mentioned a couple of days ago. The Skiff has an 11.5 inch screen that has an impressive resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels. It allows a full newspaper page to be loaded up with ads and yet be still readable.

At their keynote speech at CES 2010 this morning, Palm have announced that they are opening up webOS development to the public.  The company had already put their development tools online back in December 2009, but at that point the system was only in public beta.

Just met with Kensington here at CES and they’ve got a universal notebook charger coming out next month that uses 30% less energy than conventional adapters and is, perhaps more importantly, very nicely sized at 4.5" x 2.2" x 0.8" – the photos don’t quite do it justice.
