CES 2010: Plastic Logic and Skiff Join the eReader Club

Two more vendors join what promises to become a crowded field this year – Plastic Logic and Skiff. Plastic Logic who had previously announced their QUE proReader, premiered it at CES and says it’s aimed at business professionals.

The only bad thing (for me) about getting all this CES coverage sent to my inbox is that I get to see everything I’m missing. Plus the fact that there isn’t two feet of snow on the ground in Vegas, but that’s to be expected.

HP has a new Core i5 powered laptop called HP dv4 in its tube. Boast a 14 inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution, HP dv4 sport ATI Mobility 4550 graphics to support its Intel Core i5 processor and 2GB of DDR3 RAM. Will be retailed with a $799 price, HP dv4 laptop has Blu-ray drive optionally.

Still got an appetite for ereaders?  Jinke certainly hope so; they’re showing off their latest designs, the Jinke A6 and A9, and rather than use the by-now traditional E Ink Vixplex panels found on the Kindle and nook they’ve switched to AUO’s SiPix panels instead.

I’m not so sure you would want to be seen wearing these glasses outside in public, but they are pretty cool. Vuzix has unveiled the WRAP 920AR augmented reality glasses at CES and the things have a pair of cameras mounted to the lens that project the real world onto the LCD inside the glasses.

Dell have taken the opportunity at CES to launch their new Android powered Dell Slate a 5 inch tablet PC. Dell has confirmed the slate device will have a built-in SIM card option which hints at a 3G device given AT&T and Dell have just formed and alliance.
