A leaked image of a CellBrite device screen with the BlackBerry Essex handset indicates the handset is nearing a release at wireless carrier Verizon. The smartphone will be officially called Tour2, but is also known as the 9650 and, formerly, the Essex.

A recent report has found that Novatel's MiFi mobile hotspot can too easily be compromised by hacks. As the MiFi doesn't require a valid session to change settings, researchers have found that they could locate a user over GPS or even cut a connection remotely....

A lot of activity around e-book readers at CES keeps going on after the end of the show. Announced readers, most of those at least, are coming out this winter. The new Amazon Kindle DX will be released tomorrow and Spring Design’s Alex no sooner then February.

It was just a day or two ago that I was recommending Brando’s flash accessory kit to someone. Among the many (many, many) products at that online shop, their photographic accessories are some of the best deals, because even the most basic softboxen and other photo extras are ridiculously...

Samsung chose a post-CES launch add to its camera line for the US. At the top of the unveilings are the HZ30W and HZ35W, both of which tout some of the highest zooms ever in the compact class: either 12-megapixel unit jumps from 10X to 15X, enough to rival recent "prosumer" long-range shooters.

Apple has sent out press invitations for a product event to be held at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater. The invitation reads, “Come see our latest creation” (image above). The event begins 10 a.m., Jan. 27.

I've got a prediction for the Apple Tablet's interface that I haven't seen anywhere; it's based on nothing but my own intuition combined with some things I've pieced together, and I'm fully prepared to announce this prediction and wind up on a "Things they got wrong" list in two weeks.

The VESA group today officially released DisplayPort 1.2, its large revamp to the modern display standard. Officially just an extension, it has double the data rate of the original (now 21.6Gbps) and can handle tasks that would have been impossible with 1.1a.
