Leaked Mac Mini Photo Shows Many New Ports

Spot the difference! On the top, the current Mac Mini, picture courtesy of Apple.com. Below it is the new Mac Mini, courtesy of Apple Insider. It could indeed be a Photoshop job, but according to Apple Insider the picture shows the same port configuration as another photo leaked to it independently.

I know we picked this, but really! The very notion that absolutely anything Apple does (or in this case is rumored to be doing) is newsworthy is nowhere better exemplified than this stupendously dull piece of non news. Also note that ‘many new ports’ means an extra USB connection (completely unnecessary with a $5 usb hub) and video connector. Next…

Well they swapped the DVI-D connector with some weird non-profit connect.
To make matters worse, they put 2 on them. You have miniDVI and miniDisplayport. Those are connectors that NO-ONE in the world uses.
Thats like a $40 adapter right there.
You also have firewire 800. Since no device exists that delivers firewire 800, its a good idea to put on in…. And I do mean no device….
Sure there are readers CF cards, but the actual medium wont allow more than about 150mbps….SSD drivers are just making it to 300 just now….
There is another $15 adapter….
The only thing thats standard is the ethernet plug, audio and security…
